[Can I Live?] Perfect Timing

I’ve been wanting to talk about so much with the music game and such, but I’m so passionate for it that I know I will get off topic and talk about seven things at once yadablah therefore I’m going to try my best to tackle subjects one at a time and not break it all down in one post. Cool?

I say that to discuss this: timing. Timing is just that luck up moment in life period. Whether it’s accidentally running into someone, being in the right place at the right time, or everything going on around is lining up correct and you are the perfect fit.  Timing is vital when it comes to the rap game (Hip-hop as well for those who understand the difference). The worst thing is when a “hot” artist is released when majority of listeners are not checking for your mans… at all.  The sound is constantly changing and the lyrical content has gotten simple as Hooked on Phonics. In most cases, when an artist starts out, they have their own swag; flow, delivery, and the content relevance is their own (even if a mesh of others) so they may not change completely to fit what is needed at the time; in other words they are shelved until further notice, if given one.

For instance; Tity 2 Necklace is one of those artists who happened to turnup at the right time. If you listen to his music when he was Tity Boi, half of Player’s Circle, 2 Chainz sounds pretty much… the same. Of course, Wayne was really running the southern rap 2006-2007, so no one really checking for anyone up and coming (Though Supply and Demand did reach #1 on Billboards top rap albums). Now that the south is really taking over (stay tuned for this topic) and hip-hop has shifted once again in the last two years, Tity Boi is that guy. Hopping on tracks like Superfreak and Mercy on top of having a mixtape that was TURNUP in and out, you gotta hand it to ATL’s dread. He remained truuuuuue to his music and now he’s making baby Mercedes,  hitting his lanky two step, and gaining another audience;(another post) basically, getting this money.

I use 2 Chainz because so many people have much to say about Mr. Yaaah, but there are a few artists on the same wave. Do you know how many artists have had many projects and are just getting heard?  Even vis versa, you cant always come back when it WAS your time… it’s quiet for all of that. Kim… it’s dead. Pack it up, Nicki came and did the damn thing; endorsements, pop, Euro, gaining the youth. Nicki has passed Kim in the long run and is still defining her brand. Basically, feel out what’s going on around you and see how you can make it work for you. You may have to be a little patient, but hey, when it’s your time… it’s your time. Don’t let a tick-tock go by.

Allow me to first introduce myself…

I’m Q. For those who already know me, wuddap doe! Newbies: Why hello there? I’m some redheaded jawn doing what I can how I can. In my other life I was a creole housewife living in Lousiana; hence the red top and the motherly mentality.  I love to bake, spell out accents, and express myself through sound. I believe I am a product of my culture. 80’s baby to the fullest though technically to the least.

I have a good understanding of how the world works. For me that is. The swindles, the fine print, the rewards. Not saying I know it all, but I know enough to manuver in the sewer that I’ve grown up in. Wanting to have a career in the music, I really live this. So you will see me rip apart a song, artist, production, or label as well as adore, fiend, and appreciate  it.

Those born ’85-’91, this is for you. We are the future leaders of this thing we call the world. So what if our ambition and creativity is powered by drugs, music, and coonery. Greatness was always understood. Don’t matter how we get there, as long as we get there. It’s all a journey at the end of the day so make sure you look out the window, don’t want to miss the best part.
