Blue Ivy Watches the Throne

Blue Ivy Watches the Throne

This picture speaks for itself.

Tons of rumors have been going around that Beyoncé is possibly pregnant with her second child. Blue Ivy reminds us that there is only room for 1 in her parents’ lives… at least for now. This little personalized chair was made for the Princess of Hip-Hop while she’s on tour for her mom’s Mrs. Carter World Tour.

(I’m just happy that someone finally did my little cousin’s hair and put her in some pink! She was starting to look very tomboyish. Always cute nonetheless.)

[Bars of the Day] Santana’s Town Part 2 x Julez Santana

I have always been the  biggest Dipset fan and since  Ashani Slick Jackson (BarrelhouseBKLYN)  and I were bumping one of the best diss tracks in hip-hop, “You Gotta Love It” (Cam ft. Max B diss towards Jay-Z if you aren’t hipped),  I’ve been having random Dipset songs in my head. This week’s first song is Santana’s Town Part 2  off of The Diplomats More Than Music Vol. 1 album. Though it wasn’t as crazzzyyyy as part one, it’s still a song I know word for word. Develop was on the beat (ugh.. Dipset production team back then >>>>>>>>>) and Juelz was spitting in the regular bounce flow as usual.

in the coupe I’m stuntin’, with no roof I’m stuntin’
my hoes back that ass up like I’m Luke or somethin’ Daddy Duke or somethin’/
2 live crew or somethin’ they- pop that pussy pop! pop! that pussy baby.
I’m a rockin’ rollin’ rollin’ rockin’ hold ’em poppin’/
more shots than a shook can of soda poppin’. now how that taste man? in your face man.
that was personal. imagine for some cake, damn!

“Fuh dat green dawg? Imma mean dawg.”

[Verse of the Day] One Minute Man Remix x Jay-Z

Today I had to change the bars to a verse for Hov’s Day. The early 2000’s was live for hip-hop and Jay was jumpin on tracks and murdering them (Supa Ugly dropped the end of 2001.. ughh!) Missy was holding it down heavy and when One Minute Man dropped, it was spinning nonstop. Jay came *pause* on the remix and switched the whole connotation of a “one minute man” and how smooth was that?! Shouts to my sweets Zack (cant think of your twitter name -_-) for him putting this tune in my ear.

Fifty grand I get this on one take…
Look, I’m not tryin to give you love and affection (uh-huh)
I’m tryin to give you sixty seconds of perfection (uh-huh)/
I’m tryin to give you cabfare and directions
Get ya Independent ass out of here – QUESTION?/
I’m not your man, not Ralph Tresvant
Not Ronnie Romance.. no ma/
I’m tryin to hit you then put you in the middle of the round
like I’m Roberto Duran.. no mas/
Six A.M. another chick in the house (put your hands up)
6:15 another chick kicked you out (put your hands up)/
Spend one minute tryin to dig her out
The other fourteen tryin to “put it in her mouth”/
The dick too chubby, too much’ll make you love me
Now be a nice wifey and run home to your hubby/
Cause we, both knowin what we doin is wrong
Don’t forget to put your ring back on/

Favorite Jay-Z Album?

I do not know how people can pick ONE favorite album from Hov. That is so impossible to me. I mean, yeah there are some that bump more thoroughly than others, but ONE favorite, I can’t choose and I’m so sincerr!

However here are some of my favorite albums that I can bump daily:

reasonable_doubt

Reasonable Doubt- This album is ONE of my favorites because it is the epitome of a hustler’s journey. From friends, enemies, the paranoia, the perks, shit is just great.

tumblr_mazxebAmft1r2z32eo1_cover

Volume 3 : The Life and Times of S. Carter – Has thee joints I was bumpin’  so loud in 4th grade lol

album-the-blueprint

The Blueprint – REGULAR! 2001 Jay came spitting tracks out easily!

jay-z-blueprint-2[1]

The Blueprint 2 : The Gift and the Curse – Hova Baby? Poppin’ Tags? MEET THE PARENTS? Bitches & Sisters?  Yeah, another one of my fave albums.

JAYZ_UNPLUGGED

Jay-Z Unplugged– This?! So Soulful.

Jay-Z&R.KellyBestofBothWorlds

The Best of Both Worlds – Whaaatt? Definitely was jammin’ to this. Some people hated it, but It’s Jigga and Kelly. Two of my favorite people.

41pbyCTkKfL._SL500_SS500_

The Black Album- Kuh. Nuff said about this one. Definitely top in the favorites. What a piece of work. Definitely remember when G-Unit’s Beg For Mercy dropped as well and I just had to cop them both. Good time in hip-hop. But this album!! >> The beats and collabs? The vibe of the whole production… just.. great.  Allure!?! okay, I’ll chill.

kc

Kingdom Come- Yeah so what Jay decided to come back? And many did not really appreciate this album, but being a loyal fan, I copped and loved it. Beach Chair. Hollywood. Yeah.

Jay-Z-American Gangster 2007 CDRip WAV

American Gangster- MY. EFFIN. SHIT!! Reminded me of Reasonable Doubt just in a scripted way (duh) and gives me some of the highest motivation out of Jay’s discography. Favorite album I think, lol. For certain reasons.

I mean, those are my thoughts. My bible consists of scriptures from these albums (and the others) What are your favorites or favorite? If you dare to limit the greatness that is.

Happy Birthday, J-Hova!

jay-z2720

Shawn Carter was born December 4th/weighing in at 10 pounds 8 ounces. He was the last of my 4 children/The only one who didn’t give me any pain when i gave birth to him/And that’s how i knew that he was a special child

Miss. Gloria was dead on. I don’t know how many years it has been that I have held high loyalty to Jigga man, but it will not go away. People confuse my birthday for Jay’s (I dead used to ask my mom why she didn’t have me earlier) because my appreciation is that real. I thank you, Jay. You have always had a flow that was interesting to listen to and easy to recite that I can answer all to life with lyrics from your records. The power and creativity to make me feel like I was the one on corners late night hustling with ashy knuckles remains the reason I stay loyal to your craft. Folding the street mentality smoothly into the corporate world is inspiring and you have done this so well. From Roc-A-Fella to Roc Nation, from Obama on the text to Brooklyn Nets at Barclay’s, thank you for being an idol for so many and having a talent your fans will forever appreciate. It’s your 43rd year and I’m sure you are mighty thankful for what this year has brought you. God bless you, Bey, and Blue Ivy.

 We loooove you, Jigga.

[Bars of the Day] My President is Black x Jay-Z

It is only necessary that today’s Bars of the Day reflect the most important time of this year. I first would like to thank everyone for voting today and if you haven’t yet (in NYC) you have until 9 PM! I love the excitement from the first time voters who have possibly been waiting for this moment since last election. I can relate because I was able to vote my first year of college and I felt empowered. I remember the voting process and the anticipation I felt while watching the votes tally up and literally crying tears of joy seeing Obama gunning for the win. That night, my campus went bizzerk as did the whole nation.  In the words of the Snowman, I was finally able to say, “My President is black.”

Now today is the day to put forth the civil responsibility of voting to keep it that way! There has already been so much commotion about the poll sites and machines. Recently a voter videotaped how a poll machine was selecting Mitt Romney instead of Barack Obama (link after the jump). That’s some different type of sketchy, but don’t let that and long lines deter you from voting. As a culture, we are always going to be the odd ones out; the masses do not want to see our culture act together and for  a cause. Whatever happens, do not let any of this discourage you from voting. If you can stand/wait in lines for kicks, tickets, and video games, you should have no problem with awaiting your chance to vote for this election. Don’t give up; if anything that is what everyone against us is praying for.  Your vote does count. Confused about the electoral college? Blaming it on your reason to not vote? You’re on the internet for Twitter 24/7, go research the election process. Do not watch this election in ignorance. If you voted and felt like it didn’t count, at least feel like you did it for those who do not have the opportunity to vote. Have a purpose. Things will get better, once we do better.

Machine turns vote for Obama into one for Romney

Moving along:

My president is black
In fact, he’s half white/
So even in a racist mind he’s half right
So if u have a racist mind you be ‘aight/
My president is black
But his house is all white/
Rosa Parks sat
So Martin Luther could walk/
Martin Luther walked
So Barack Obama could run/
Barack Obama ran
So all the children could fly/
So I’ma spread my wings
So you could meet me in the sky/

What’s so crazy about these lyrics is the majority of our culture does not recognize the trials and tribulations the Black community has gone through. Some are so quick to pull it as evidence of what someone did back back in the day instead of honoring and carrying out the messages and the respect those great African-Americans wholeheartedly fought for. It’s time to stop blaming when you haven’t put the necessary work in. It’s time to stop letting the media persuade our culture into feeling as if multiple partners/babymommas, all gold everything, and making it rain is the one life to live by any means necessary and in the same breathe, please stop spending like you never had a dollar. Stop beating your own people down and having a pride that is destroying the community everyday. Help out. Stop killing each other. Stop complaining. My mother told me some years ago that I am a black, woman in this world; two handicaps I was just born with. However, I am educated and knowing all three, I can succeed in anything. She always tells me, “don’t give up until you have exhausted every possibility.” Our culture is so quick to give up, say “fuck everything”, and not practice what we preach. Please understand, we are always watched. Yes, we all were raised differently as a culture. Some people come from generations of hard working generations that only wanted the best of the best for their kids; culture, morals, values, knowing the way of the world as early as possible. Then there are some who come from generations of struggle in every sense of the word and have no positivity around them. WE know the difference between the “coons’ and the “blacks’ (whatever you’d like to call it), but the world views us all the same.  One color. Waiting for us to be angry, rude, and ignorant. Stop giving society what they want and do betterrrr. Everyone wants to scream, “My president is black,” but doesn’t want to emulate what he represents as a black man. I guess Rick Ross is more matched for your living standards. Ehh. Learn the difference. Just know, these n*ggas won’t hold me back. Trust.

Respect our women. Support our men. Take care of our children. Go vote.

Power Couples With a Cause

Hov, Bey, and the Obamas? So necessary!  Jay and Bey will be hosting  Barrack Obama’s last fundraising event in NYC September 18, before the election, November 6.  This event capped at 100 guests, $40,000 per ticket, will be hosted at the 40/40 Club; regular.

Recently Mr. President crashed  Jay’s performance in Philly at the  Made In America Festival  (after the jump) and that was pretty dope. I love seeing my two favorites on opposite, but the same side of life’s spectrum interact in the way that these two do. Truly respect two of the biggest African American power couples uniting for a serious cause and making black look so beautiful.

And you really thought Obama wasn’t on the text? Kuh.

Patiently Waiting

Cruel Summer leaked last night… and I haven’t heard it yet.  I usually feel iffy about listening to albums that I have anticipated for so long before their release date buuuutttt I’m anxious.  Features like  Ma$e and KelzTarius!!!!!?? I have to listen to it tonight. I don’t even want to hear the snippets for the rest of the tracks. “Clique” dropped and I’m not too hyped about the record. I think Pusha T should have been on it, but overall it was…. aiiight.  I’m pretty sure I’m going to love the album as a whole though. I mean… it IS a Kanye production.

If you really cant wait to hear this G.O.O.D. compilation and are anti-leak,  hit  iTunes for snippets of each song. (Though I”m pretty sure most of the world has bumped it hard in the past 17 hours)  Below is the tracklist. Until 9/18, be G.O.O.D.

01. Kanye West and R. Kelly: “To the World”
02. Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Big Sean: “Clique”
03. Kanye West, Big Sean, Pusha-T, and 2 Chainz: “Mercy”
04. Kanye West, Pusha-T, and Ghostface Killah: “New God Flow”
05. Raekwon, Pusha-T, Common, 2 Chainz, Cyhi the Prynce, Kid Cudi, and D’Banj: “The Morning”
06. DJ Khaled: “Cold”
07. The-Dream, Pusha-T, and Ma$e: “Higher”
08. John Legend, Travi$ Scott, Teyana Taylor, Cyhi the Prynce, and Malik Yusef: “Sin City”
09. Kanye West, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, and Marsha Ambrosius: “The One”
10. Kid Cudi: “Creepers”
11. John Legend and Teyana Taylor: “Bliss”
12. Kanye West, Chief Keef, Pusha-T, Big Sean, and Jadakiss: “Don’t Like”
