[Never Forget] Kanye West xx No Excuses

ye

I came across this  yesterday and soooo much appreciation filled my soul. First thing I thought of was:

Y’all don’t know my struggle!
Y’all can’t match my hustle!
You can’t catch my hustle!
You can’t fathom my love dude
Lock yourself in a room doin’ five beats a day for three summers
That’s a different world like Kree Summers
I deserve to do these numbers!

And Kanye has deserved every piece of fame and every dollar since then.  This is really a treasure. (I need a physical copy… however) Through Ye’s tragic accident and recovery, he still spit “Through the Wire” and stood true to his grind. I mean, the man escaped death; he HAD to become the mad genius we know now.  So just in case you had any excuse on why you can’t be great, understand that this promo CD back cover is worth plenty of inspirational and proven words.

Patiently Waiting

Cruel Summer leaked last night… and I haven’t heard it yet.  I usually feel iffy about listening to albums that I have anticipated for so long before their release date buuuutttt I’m anxious.  Features like  Ma$e and KelzTarius!!!!!?? I have to listen to it tonight. I don’t even want to hear the snippets for the rest of the tracks. “Clique” dropped and I’m not too hyped about the record. I think Pusha T should have been on it, but overall it was…. aiiight.  I’m pretty sure I’m going to love the album as a whole though. I mean… it IS a Kanye production.

If you really cant wait to hear this G.O.O.D. compilation and are anti-leak,  hit  iTunes for snippets of each song. (Though I”m pretty sure most of the world has bumped it hard in the past 17 hours)  Below is the tracklist. Until 9/18, be G.O.O.D.

01. Kanye West and R. Kelly: “To the World”
02. Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Big Sean: “Clique”
03. Kanye West, Big Sean, Pusha-T, and 2 Chainz: “Mercy”
04. Kanye West, Pusha-T, and Ghostface Killah: “New God Flow”
05. Raekwon, Pusha-T, Common, 2 Chainz, Cyhi the Prynce, Kid Cudi, and D’Banj: “The Morning”
06. DJ Khaled: “Cold”
07. The-Dream, Pusha-T, and Ma$e: “Higher”
08. John Legend, Travi$ Scott, Teyana Taylor, Cyhi the Prynce, and Malik Yusef: “Sin City”
09. Kanye West, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, and Marsha Ambrosius: “The One”
10. Kid Cudi: “Creepers”
11. John Legend and Teyana Taylor: “Bliss”
12. Kanye West, Chief Keef, Pusha-T, Big Sean, and Jadakiss: “Don’t Like”

G.O.O.D. Music Covers Complex

“He [Kanye] knows what he’s talking about. It’s crazy how insanely smart he is—it’s frustrating at times” – Kid Cudi

Complex has a couple members of the G.O.O.D. crew faces assembled in the shape of a cross on Aug/Sept. 2012. All black/charcoal gray … I’d say a definitely attention grabber. Very sleek, but capturing. Oh, and assisted by Ye’s design company, DONDA. A couple of the gawds sat down with Complex to discuss their journey while  getting our their dreams. (Link after the jump.)

I truly enjoyed the interview. I could imagine sitting there with some of Hip-Hop’s biggest artists right now, chopping it up about a label created by one of my top favorite people in the world. Reading Cudi, Big Sean, Pusha, 2 Chainz (unofficial G.O.O.D. Music), John Legend, Common, and Q-Tip first-hand speak about their relationships with Kanye. They explain how much of a perfectionist Ye is and through the music, I see that. I hear that.  One of the smoothest in the land, John Legend described G.O.O.D. as “That creativity, that attention to detail, that quality control—that’s what distinguishes us from other folks who might just be chasing a hit.” Again, I believe it. Whether it’s the production of the songs or the shooting of the videos (Mercy was eh, but I get it was an artistic reach and I get it. Someone’s going to appreciate it, like this guy), G.O.O.D. music and Ye are all about the quality and showing everyone there is no limits to this music thing.

Cudi mentions how G.O.O.D. …“represent honesty, in all aspects. Ain’t nobody fake. Ain’t nobody phony. Niggas are who they are. Everybody is who they are around each other. We’re real. I’m not in other crews. I don’t know how other niggas live, but I know right here that’s one of the main things we represent: honesty and realness. You can just hear it in the music. This ain’t no cookie-cutter shit.”  Just to let the crowd know. The crew joked around about Ye being wrong about some drops that were successful and how he always motivates and looks out with much constructed criticism. My loyalty for Ye was just validated after this read.

Bottom line, G.O.O.D. music is headed in a strong direction with  progression of hip-hop. Ye precisely picked out all these artists, like different shaped brushes, to illustrated the new masterpiece of hip-hop. The new religion? I’d say. Hip-Hop is gospel and in the G.O.O.D. book, chapter 2012, verse 9, line 4, speaks of a Cruel Summer we are currently in. I’m waiting for another audio novel, Mr. West!

I can go on and on about Ye, this interview, the artists, and hip-hop all day so just go read Complex. Thanks to Noah on the piece!

Amen x Exodus 23:1

siiiiggggghhhh…

Here we go again, huh? So It clearly took me a while to actually sit and take in wtf is going on with whatever is going on. First the speculation was Young Money, but as I listened intently myself, Drake, Wayne, and Young Chop were sub-mentioned.

I love Drake, everyone knows this, but the way Pusha T lyrically ripped into him and the other two was pretty intense. I don’t think he was really getting at them, but he definitely let them know about their individual lives.

“Contract all fucked/Explain up I guess that means you all fucked up/You signed to one niggas that signed to another niggas that’s signed to three niggas / Now that’s bad luck.” -Welp.

“F*ck you playin’ games fou? Don’t be scared, get everything you came fou/They got you talkin’ that big shit, little do you know, we don’t miss shit/ Them n*ggas usin’ you as a pawn, you see they never loaded they guns. Now you out here all by yo’self, ask Steve Jobs wealth don’t buy health, yeeeahh.” – Yeah…. this tied it all up pretty much.

“Throwin’ that flag up, runnin ‘roun’, you hot shit. Takin half of everything you get.”  Wayne. Exposed.

Pusha even had it for Young Chop (Original producer for Chief Keef’s  “I Dont Like” record who had much to say about Ye altering the beat.)

“You can keep your beats, n*gga, we much rather share your b*tch n*gga. B*tch n*gga.”  -Respect it.

The-Dream’s “Them n*ggas ain’t down fuh yuh” hook just makes you have so much pity for these 3 dudes.

I can get into so much with this topic, but you may not want to read mad much so I will keep it as simple as I can.

It does annoy me that Drake be riding YM crazy, mainly because every time someone comes at YM he feels he has to be that front soldier. Yes I get that that is the label you are signed to, but YM is shitty and I’m sure the money/business is shady looking at the membership list growing every other month. Keep your loyalty to OVO(XO) and don’t let anyone put ANY batteries in your back including the -he said she said-  and “G.O.O.D aint good enough/ya hood ain’t hood enough” because this record felt really legit. (Feeling that this track was a real ass diss track, then again, it’s Pusha T.)

And the verse itself, Exodus 23:1, “Do not spread false reports. Do not help a wicked man by being a malicious witness” I interpret it as, do not spread false information just to help someone in the wrong make a point. Seems to all fall in line to me.

And it’s clear people are in their feelings because Wayne was Lawry’s going on twitter saying, “fuk pusha t and anybody that love em.” To me, Wayne told us Pusha was talkin’ the gospel. But what if there are Pusha T and Wayne fans… so you really walked through and said “f*ck airybody?” Whatever dawgs. Wayne said he was a made man and how he should dust something, but Jay explained, “made men ain’t suppose to make statements.” Hmm.. I’ll go with the guy who’s more Frank Lucas than Ludacris.

Ennywehdoe, shouts to Manny Fresh on the production of Cruel Summer (oh yah! ) and in the words of that pretty muhfudger, “rap game f*ck up boheeyy. F*ck you think I rap fo’?

Lust Lockdown?

Last night, Kim and Ye were spotted being cuffed up leaving Scott Disick’s new RYU restaurante in Manhattan. These two… I’m just not understanding. Are they each other’s pity partner for lust disguised love? You can’t help who you love, we get it. However, Kanye and Kim are two people who stay in the news. Kim has been stroked for the world to see, famous for it, then has a marriage that lasted about as long as a Rick Ross grunt and finds herself with this guy. Ye falls in love with a skrippuh who, I believe, got her start-up kit from him, and dipped to find real love. Hmph. From 808’s & Heartbreaks and My Dark Twisted Fantasy, we know Ye be in his feelings. Truth be told, Ye and Kim only know what it really is between them so we’ll see how this plays out. Some say its fake. Sounds familiar. Appears Ye is really satisfied being in love with a lie.  I’m really just anticipating the split so Yeezy can make some more dope emo-theatrical music. :Bumps Blame Game:

iTunes Snatch

Thursday night I was in the car doing hoodrat things with my friends, when I heard an unfamiliar beat peaking through the speakers. Interning at a radio station, you know when a new record is on air instantly. Only catching the end of this song, I go to my hand dandy iHeartRadio app  to tune into DJ Clue because of course he’d be the one to premiere the record and play it back a couple of times. CLUTCH!

Basically… I’ve been listening to Mercy on repeat since. Yeah, Ye’s Theraflu got put on pause for this G.O.O.D. production ( Shouts to Lifted on the beat). The blend of Houston swag, trap knock, and dancehall ting (Shouts to Fuzzy Jones, R.I.P.), results in an inevitable bounce. Everyone did their thing. Big Sean starts off with his witty flow, Pusha T wellcrafts his drug talk as always, Ye talked his shit as usually which created a great build up for …..  2 Chaaaaiiiinnnnzzz! Mercy was his turf, excellent selection to end the record. Truuueeee.

Swerve.
