[Video] Remember You x Wiz Khalifa xx The Weeknd

My two favorite knotty fros drop the visual to Remember You from O.N.I.F.C aimed to drop Dec. 4.

Trippy.

Wiz is scheduled a fitted in the study/tailor shop (go figure) while women who seem to live… different lives fill the video. The Weeknd wasn’t in the video, but this had to be footage from House of Balloons on a Thursday.

[Bars of the Day] Money Trees x K. Dot xx Jay Rock

I’ve been waking to this song for some days now and it’s so necessary to be today’s pick. Last night during the last Presidential debate, one of my followers mentioned Mitt Romney saying “you just lost another debate, ya bish” so it was only right I quoted Kendrick ,“A silver spoon I know you come from, ya biishh.” (BTW Please vote, don’t fall into the art of peer pressure when it comes to “not caring” about your future in this country/world because you do count and WILL be affected.) With that being said, here’s los bars:

Hot sauce all in our Top Ramen, ya biiishh (ya biiish)
Parked the car then we start rhymin’, ya biiishh (ya biiish)/
The only thing we had to free our mind (free our mind)
Then freeze that verse when we see dolla signs (see dolla signs)/
You looking like an easy come up, ya biiishh (ya biiish)
A silver spoon I know you come from, ya biiishh (ya biiish)/
And that’s a lifestyle that we never knew
Go at a reverend for the revenue/

Besides me loving every song in the movie, this one gets a lot of repeats. This record is one that screams relative situations in our culture. Hustle by any means necessary. Jay said, “if I need it, imma get it however, God help me.” Banks shouted, “I die for a bill, believe in the dolla’, for the chips, anyone gets it, even Estrada.”  And K. Dot explains it in a song with the most nonchalant, but straight-forward attitude with a hook letting us know a dollar can easily influence a decision.

It go Halle Berry or hallelujah
Pick your poison tell me what you doin?/
Everybody gon’ respect the shooter,
But the one in front of the gun lives forever/
And I been hustlin’ all day, this a way, that a way
Through canals and alleyways, just to say/
Money trees is the perfect place for shade and tha’s just how I feel
A dollar might, just fuck your main bitch that’s just how I feel/
A dollar might, say fuck them niggas that you came with tha’s just how I feel
A dollar might, just make that lane switch tha’s just how I feel/
A dollar might, turn to a million and we all rich tha’s just how I feel

Shouts to DJ Dahi on the beat and Jay Rock‘s verse was cool. Gotta appreciate the way Money Trees explains the motive of the situation in “Art of Peer Pressure.” I am grateful for artist who make all of their music connect and Kendrick is so amazing at telling his story in a way that you must listen to it all to circle back to the connections so it can hit you like, “ohhhhhhh.” (Not saying other artist don’t; if you listen to Kendrick like I do, you know what I mean)  But I mean what do I know? I just live this hip-hop/music shit.

tha’s jus’ how I feel.

[Bars of the Day] Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe x K. Dot

I tried to pick a song that I’m sure you all have played on repeat a couple times already, so Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe was the winner (though mine is M.A.A.D. City). This record is so fitting; that song that you throw on when you want to have “me time” and no fucks to give to anything else. I love how Daddy Kenny  introduces the track (end of Sherane A.K.A. Master Splinter’s Daughter); impatiently waiting on his Domino’s, moms couldn’t be just killing the vibe too.

Fell on my face and I woke with a scar
Another mistake living deep in my heart/
Buried on top of my sleeve in a flick
I can admit that it did look like yours/
Why you resent every making of this?
Tell me your purpose is petty again/
But even a small lighter can burn a bridge,
Even a small lighter can burn a bridge/
I can feel the the changes…
I can feel the new people ‘roun’ me just wanna be famous…/
You can see that my city found me then put me on stages,
 to me that’s amazing
To you that’s a quick check. With all disrespect let me say this…/

Kendrick is one stone cold lyricist (and I will fight this to the death; for you people who really say you do not see why others appreciate the sounds of Kendrick. But I’m sleep because I’m getting upset typing this) and I pulled these bars because this is one of many reasons I admire GKMC and somewhat (because I’ve never been to Compton or lived that specific life) understand K. Dot.I’m sure you have seen or experienced yourself living in an area or being surrounded by people who decide to stay stagnant and have no passion for anything else but remaining as such. Or even you were that settling homie that just happened to get the molasses out ya ass. Though being a part of the same environment, some may believe you are “too good” or “selling out” when you just want the best for your situation. Kendrick expresses how he appreciates his trials and tribulations and more appreciative of his blessings that pulled him out of the dark. For those who look at his success as a get-quick money fix, fame and who constantly put down his accomplishments for petty reasons, he’s explaining “I love my life. I’ve gotten far and still soaring. I’m coolin’. Bitch, don’t kill my vibe.

Simple.

[Bars of the Day] Drag-On x Spit These Bars

Now if you don’t know me personally, you don’t know how much of a thug I am. Duh. But today’s pick for Bars of the Day solidifies my G. When I think of songs like this, it reminds me how much I live and breathe hip-hop culture on all of its levels. The whole Ruff Ryders movement had most of us screaming “Ruff Raaahhduuhhhz” and trying to pop wheelies on whatever allowed us. I remember always bumping my mom’s Opposite of H2O heaavyyy. To this day, I spit “Spit These Bars” off the top as if it was released within the last two years. Swizz blessed the hook and it was perfect for our 8-10 year old asses to sing along considering mothereffer would have easily fit perfectly.  Drag-On’s voice was similar to DMX, but a bit calmer; flow was nice nevertheless. The record was just…. Double R. Daws really it. Slick lyrics, raw beat, hood party track.

A-yo I spit these baaars to make ya head shake
Fuck bitches ’til the bed break/
Let’s see how much lead you can take
Never let a nigga pay for what I give away/
We can all share
Clip to my waist it’s all spare/
So run dammit, run
When I bust my gun/
I miss none-
Put y’all in critical condition/
I’m the-talk’uhduh town when it comes to fuckin’ bitches
Or- layin’ niggas down/
Drag bust the most rounds

It took me so much not to write out all the lyrics and the video got me excited. *looks for a four wheeler.* Check it out.

Sings *do my laydaays, run this uhh-uhh? yes-they-do-run this mutha-uhh-uhh.*

[Just Something Cool] Ohio State University Marching Band

Google always has something interesting posted as soon as I open Chrome. Today I happened to be a little more intrigued than usual. Ohio State University Marching Band is known for its amazing halftime performances at the football games. From designs  to video  themes, those who attend the games are in for a real show.

With that being said, this video (thanks to Handmrow Gobucks is from Ohio State vs Nebraska’s game October 6. This routine was a classic video games theme including Pac-Man, Pokemon, and Tetris. Peep  the 6:00 minute mark! With over 11.8 million views, it’s definitely worth it!

This was just amazing. I could appreciate a well organized, uniformed, and creative band. The fact that  the band life runs deep (I’m sure you’ve seen Drumline), I’m pretty confident that plenty of dedication, pride, and discipline goes into perfecting such a craft as in any art.

So shouts to the OSUMB for an entertaining performance!

[Bars of the Day] Whip Pussy x Lloyd Bank$

Today’s song came from my “only fucking with the best spittas” archives. Mr. Bee-ay-en-kay dollar sign has always been my “punchline king.” I remember when Bank$ only had a couple of tats excluding the ‘South” “Side” on his hands. XXL featured the yellow guy of G-Unit in an article for his top ten (I believe) punchlines ( I still have this clipping somewhere). Banks just wasn’t winning on the commercial side. “On Fire” was probably the largest song and that had it’s time as well. Either way, I’d bump some Banks any day.

Which brings me to my jam! Whip Pussy is one of my favorite records. The flow is nice, the concept is quite relevant, and the lesson, you better learn it.

You’ll agree if your anything like me
before I die of a pussy id give up my right knee/
loosen up yo handcuffs when u come around me
she aint the only fish swimming in the sea/
I whip pussy don’t let pussy whip me
see ima tell u the way my poppa told me/
especially if the broad stuck on me
dont keep a caged bird let the mothaf**ker free

I didn’t pick the chorus for today’s bars, however, I love slick shit. Never heard this? I gahchew right now =)

[Mood Tune] That’s Cool – Silkk they Shocker x Trina

It’s 4:08 AM (approximately) and I’m searching videos on YouTube… this video came to mind.

Lmao. Hahaha. I enjoyed this 11 years later.

1. Before there were N*ggas in Paris, there were N*ggas in Alaska.

2. Silkk the Shocker always runs over the beat. It was like he wrote verses without hearing the beats, randomly picked one, and said, ” f*ck it” every time.

3. Trina had the shoulder move the whole video.

4. Shorty who was up in the cabin dancing with Silkk gotta go. She dances the way he raps.

I swore I was a No Limit Solider.

Yeah, I still am.

Brrrrrrrrhaa! Stick it! Ha! HaHa! Stick it!

[Mood Tune] Riesling & Rolling Papers x Fabolous

I’ve recently been listening to random older mixtapes. I have these periods (which I’m sure, if you love music you do as well) where an old song is triggered in my head and I want to listen to all the music surrounding that time frame in Hip-Hop  or that artist. “I Don’t See Nobody” did that which made one of Fab’s best mixtapes, There Is No Competition, to be played repeated for about three days. I get into my music state of mind and decide TINC>TINC2>>>TINC3, totally forgetting that The Soul Tape diiiiiiiiiid drop. “Leaving U”, “Wolve in Sheep’s Clothing”, “Slow Down”, and “Riesling & Rolling Papers”… love those records.

Grabbing the Bars of the Day from the smooth Riesling & Rolling Papers, self-explanatory why Fabolous is one of my favorite rappers.

I’m down to earth like gravity, but man we up
Women get around me and they can-not keep their panties up/
Your boy drop jewels, you niggas should ante up
This is food for thought, you bitches fill the pantry up

And I was just a virgin a baby.
One of the reasons I looked up to him crazy…

-Kanye tuh duh
